IPC case study

IPC Case Study
IPC Media is the UK's leading consumer magazine and digital publisher, they have been running and producing magazines and newspapers since the 1800's.

IPC Media launched The Field in 1853 and within a year it became Europe's largest newspaper, some of the magazines launched by IPC Media in the 1800's are still running today, such as: Country life, Horse and Hound, Yachting World and Amateur Photographer.

Their current portfolio consists of more than 50 titles, most of these being sport&leisure magazines and woman's weeklies. IPC Media sells more than 350 million copies of their magazines each year, their main target audience is the working class and middle class.

IPC Media may be considered as an appropriate publisher for a new music magazine because they are the publishers of well known music magazines such as NME and Uncut, although they seem to be more in favour of rock music as opposed to pop or drum&bass. An alternative and possibly more suitable publisher of a music magazine would probably be Bauer, this is simply because they publish more music magazines and would have more experience and expertise in publishing music magazines, they would also be less specific about the genre of music magazine they would choose to publish.
